Job description
American Handyman is seeking a skilled and reliable General Handyman Services Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a variety of home improvement and maintenance services for clients in Sarasota, Manatee, and surrounding counties. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in home repairs, including carpentry, drywall, painting, window and door repairs, soffit and fascia work, and general home maintenance tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on a wide variety of projects and has strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general home improvement tasks, including minor carpentry (e.g., repairing doors, installing shelves, etc.)
- Patch, repair, and install drywall; including texturing and smoothing
- Install and repair window panes, doors, and door hardware
- Conduct interior and exterior painting jobs, including detailed trim work
- Repair and maintain soffits, fascia, and related exterior features
- Conduct basic home maintenance such as replacing air filters, smoke detector batteries, and seasonal home checkups
- Assess job sites and identify any additional repairs or tasks needed
- Communicate effectively with customers to understand job requirements and ensure satisfaction
- Ensure job sites are kept clean, organized, and safe during and after work
- Provide top-notch customer service and maintain a professional demeanor at all times
- Use various hand and power tools to complete tasks
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure work is completed to the highest standards
Job Requirements
- Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar role (minimum 2 years preferred)
- Expertise in home repairs, including carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and general maintenance
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues on-site
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with clients
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Physical stamina and strength to handle tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods (ability to lift 50 lbs+)
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required)
- Basic knowledge of home safety standards and regulations
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors
- Must be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in window pane replacement, soffit and fascia repair, and exterior home improvements
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes
- Knowledge of advanced carpentry or specialized handyman services
